As a native of Vermont my first love was alpine ski racing. After a knee injury in high school I switched over to XC skiing and running. I went on to attend UVM but gradually stopped competing.
I picked up running competitively again in grad school at BU, but after a couple of years of high mileage, a knee injury stopped me for good.
I picked up cycling in 2007 and got into a handful of races. Last year I focused my attention on hills, specifically Mount Washington. Even though I’m a bigger guy I think my VT upbringing forced me to love hills. I try and stay away from the crits if at all possible.
